You can answer questions in an assessment when you are the assessment owner, or have been assigned either an entire knowledge area or individual questions from a knowledge area. You will not be able to edit the answers for questions and knowledge areas that you are not assigned to, but may be able to see the answers to help you understand the context.
To answer questions, navigate to the assessment from the Assess page, find the knowledge area you want to work on (from either the START or IN PROGRESS tabs usually), and then click the START or CONTINUE button on that knowledge area.
Questions for each knowledge area are organized into three categories:
- ORGANIZATIONAL questions explore your organizational design and readiness. They look at roles and responsibilities, leadership support, training, and engagement.
- OPERATIONAL questions look at how well each area is documented, integrated into other operational activities, and has well defined and implemented operational processes and metrics.
- TECNICAL questions look at practical considerations including relevant technical definitions, adoption of industry standards, and implementation of tooling.
Most questions are yes or no answers, but some have multiple options. Under each question, there is a paragraph that explains a bit more of the context for why the question is being asked. Choose your answer simply by clicking on it.
Answering questions can affect whether other questions apply or not. Questions that aren’t relevant will still be shown but will be greyed out.
As well as providing you answer, you can also add comments or reminders, using the icons between the question and the answers:
- Comments allow you to add notes that can help later when reviewing the answer. These might include reasons why you chose the answer you did, or any uncertainties you have in your answer. They are also a great place to record activities that are in progress – for example you may not be able to answer ‘yes’, but may have work underway and maybe even nearly finished: you can answer ‘no’ and provide a comment to say what is going on and how close you are to turning the ‘no’ to a ‘yes’.
- Reminders allow you to make a note of when a particular answer should be reviewed. You may have current or planned activities that you would expect to change your answer, and this is a good way to keep track of which questions need reviewing when.
When you have answered all the questions, you can complete the knowledge area: see Completion of a knowledge area.
