The following are usually the key activities to plan next steps once an assessment has been completed:
- Review the MATURITY LEVELS to identify which areas are already good enough, which are nearly there, and which need more focus. This is good intelligence for senior leaders, as it helps them understand at a high-level where the organization is and where it is trying to get to. It also allows them to see progress from quarter-to-quarter and year-to-year. Knowledge areas often align to organizational roles and responsibilities, so this part of the exercise will help you to identify who you need to be working closely with to make improvements.
- Consider the SCORES, and in particular the activity scores, as this will give you insights to what ae possibly organizational preferences and blind spots when it comes to data, like a focus on business processes ahead of engagement, or KPIs and metrics ahead of governance. These insights might allow you to identify organization-wide opportunities to be more balanced, and identify where investments might be best targetted.
- Work through the Routefinder to identify the path to improve maturity in each of the knowledge areas that require it. These can form the outcomes required in a detailed plan of activity, and then you can roll these up into workstreams and phases as required.
