Users can be assigned one or more roles, and each role grants certain permissions to take actions within the platform.

The available roles are:

| None | These users can login to the platform but cannot see any content other than their profile. They cannot be assigned to assessment. | |
| Contributor | Can only see assessments that they are assigned to (or assigned to some part of, for example a knowledge area or a question). They will be able to see the whole of any knowledge area they are assigned to any part of, but will not be able to see other knowledge areas in the same assessment. | Contributor |
| Approver | Can be assigned as an approver of an assessment by an Assessment Administrator. Cannot see other assessments that they are not assigned to. | Approver |
| Assessment Administrator | Sees all assessments belonging to the organization, at all lifecycle stages. Can create and delete assessments (subject to other conditions). Can assigned entire assessments to Contributors. Can assign the Approver of each assessment. | Create Assessment Delete Assessment |
| Enterprise Administrator | Sees and can manage all users in their organization. This includes assigning and removing roles from users. | Manage User Roles |
